Whilst running a website is not new to me, I was not utilizing it efficiently, and it was laying there “in space”, doing nothing to entice anyone to visit, not drawing traffic because no-one really knew about it, and was certainly not earning any income.

I decided that I needed to diversify my income stream (yes, it meant actually earn more money!) so I signed up for a few affiliate programs, which I put onto my website. The usual Google Ads, Amazon.com and affiliate partners. This is great, but certainly is not going to pay the rent at the end of the month.

So next, I signed up for an “enter here free and earn thousands of dollars a month” program, which was so enticing that I was salivating thinking of all that lovely money pouring into the coffers.

Whilst the program that I signed up for is in actual fact an excellent one, it is proving to be difficult to cut a swathe through the things I should be doing, should have done, and should do in the future. My poor head is spinning and I can’t sleep at night because I am thinking of all the things I hadn’t done the day before. What are they? Writing articles, blogging, sending my urls to endless free submissions, opt-in lists, opt-out lists, optimum lists….!! The list goes on and on.

So, what is my advice?

1. Learn what all these various avenues are that will make your foray into the ether world an enjoyable, stress-free and successful result.
2. You should first learn about the information on your website (this can be a plug-in one that is made for you so you don’t need to be a web-genius),
3. Follow the instructions step by step so you don’t get ahead of yourself,
4. Place ads and articles prudently,
5. Keep your costs down until you know what you are doing.

The most important lesson to be learned, is that nothing comes to you overnight. And nothing comes to you without you working very hard for it. It is easy to say you will earn money in your sleep (if you do manage to get to sleep!), but you have to put in a lot of effort before you can reach that point.

a. Know what your niche is,
b. Know your customer,
c. Know the demand,
d. Know how to create traffic,
e. Constantly learning and most importantly TAKE ACTION. . . . (until today I do keep learning, learning and learning)
