CNN’s Richard Roth reports why Citigroup has announced plans to cut about 50,000 jobs and how the credit crunch has taken a toll on the financial giant.

Citigroup Inc. announced plans Monday, November 18, 2008, to cut more than 50,000 jobs - a tidal wave of layoffs that will probably reach the Bay Area, where it is the third-largest retail bank. It is reported that the reductions, which will leave Citigroup about 20% smaller.

It is reported by Associated Press, “Of the big four U.S. banks, the others are JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bank of America and Wells Fargo & Co., Citi is the only one that has not made a recent major acquisition - which analysts say is one of the few chances for growth right now. Citi is also the only big bank left that has posted four straight quarterly losses.”

I just want to start out by saying THANX to the RN CREW for wanting “my” input!

When I was told that my advertising methods were working, and they wanted me to share them with the rest of the team. At first, I thought about “hey, how do I advertise”? I then began thinking about how to present this information to you all. I began reading how other team members that were asked to present their techniques, what they had wrote.

After reading theirs, I noticed that some of their techniques were the opposite of mine, and how some liked one program over another for their advertising results. When in reality, there really is only 1 answer to this question, of “how do I get referrals”?

It doesn’t matter what program you use, experience in a program comes with trial and error. What works for this member, may not work for you and vice versa. I saw where one team member had no success in a program that has brought me…well the success for RN to ask me for my advice.

Most people join a program, maybe join a safelist (FOR FREE) which means that you will be able to send you ad out ONCE-A-WEEK. Now, truthfully, you and I both know that this DOES NOT WORK.

We all know that any program is built upon new folks joining. This is from advertising RN to Coca Cola advertising to millions, in hopes of latching on to a couple thousand NEW COCA COLA drinkers.

This is a numbers game, and if you are not ALWAYS advertising, you are NOT going to make any money.

Victory was more than decisive - Obama beating McCain by 338 to 155 electoral votes, CNN reported.

So who to blame, is it the people, is it the government, is it the system, is it the life, is is the Ah Long . . . . . before you get caught in this situation, listen to this song (in Malay language). . .

Recently I was watching the news about a sad story of a women who was just laid off after working for “13 years” for one of the big three auto makers in the US.

She was explaining that “she wasn’t sure what she or her 30,000 co-workers were going to do — now that they were unexpectedly without a regular pay check”.

The story got me to thinking about the contrast between someone who understands how to generate their own income versus someone reliant on a corporation to make a living.

A couple weeks ago I returned from A Business Seminar, full of people who are self reliant and produce their own incomes.

During the Seminar I observed something that was amazing….NOT once did I hear anybody complain about the current state of the economy or even the upcoming election.

Could it be it because they were out of touch or simply didn’t care?

Nope.

It was is because everyone there was focused on building their own businesses and personal economies…

…by focusing their energies on what they DO have control of — which is to build their online businesses.

Despite all the benefits and good life without working yet they are still moaning. It is reported that Mrs Crompton, 40, moaned: ‘I’m not satisfied with the benefits we get  -  I want more. I haven’t been able to work because I’ve had to bring up the kids and Harry’s got health problems.’ No wonder when she walk down the street, people shout ‘scroungers’.

So Guys, are you worthwhile or well compensated with your degree and experience. If not, are you thinking to move to Britain? . . . . . . .

So we in Malaysia will feel the heat soon. No doubt it is almost winter elsewhere and it is a rainy season in Malaysia, if we as consumer does not extra measures we will “melting down” too. We should be frugal in our spending to be in a better financial shape. How should we do it?

For those who are driving, now is the time to think seriously on carpool, postponing buying extra car or to change your car, and do travel domestically in the coming holiday season. I would advise do not over spend or buy unnecessarily but do not stop spending as this would not be good for the economy. The business activity should go on but we need to put extra cautious in spending. Looking at current scenario, oil prices is coming down so this would trigger a price reduction in consumer items.

Fresh graduates not to be too fussy about jobs as companies, in view of the global crisis, may not be hiring. Lay off is predicted in this current situation but the first to go are of course the foreign workers. Manufacturing industry will be badly hurt it seems.

Looking at the bright side, to those who have cash this is the time to make money (aahah! now you are waking up) . . . Those with cash may take advantage of the situation by buying cheaper stocks on the share market or even buying a cheaper property.

Malaysia does not expect to go down as bad as their counterpart in the US and in the Europe, because Malaysia has a massive surplus account. With the government support, our banks is safe and by experience our bankers know what to do based on the 1997 global financial crisis. Despite this strong credentials, Malaysia will have a similar effect due to several factors like the uncertain political scenario.

As the current crisis continues to wreck havoc across the world, global investment bank Lehman Brothers Holding Inc and financial advisory company Merill Lynch & Co Inc have become the latest victims in the US. The bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers will become the largest bankruptcy in the corporate history of the US. USA’s largest insurance company, AIG, also stands on the brink of collapse. The market remains in a state of shock, being unable to realize and cope with all consequences of the recent event.

Recently AIG General Insurance’s CEO Brad M Bennett said that 100% of its asset were invested in Malaysia. “Our capital and margin of solvency are well in excess of what is required by Bank Negara Malaysia to meet our obligations to policyholders”. Maybe at least AIG Malaysia will survive in the current economic tsunami but we need to see this scenario and remember even those who looked untouchable have toppled - Bear Stearns, Lehman, Merill’s.

On the local front in Malaysia, however, several funds have recently been launched to capitalize on the expected financial recovery, with many of them investing in global financial institutions. However, in the light of the latest developments, should investors do a rethink? The outlook for the market looks bleak it seems.

One interesting note I read today is Gates wasn’t concerned about the state of the U.S. economy in the long run. Gates seemed to be cool, or not terribly worried, about the U.S. financial crisis. “The U.S. economy in the long run is going to do very, very well. There are some interesting and meaningful decisions to be made in the next weeks,” Gates said. 1) Do your SEO and keyword research homework. Make sure the HTML of your site is search engine friendly. Here is a basic search engine optimization checklist:

• Do your post titles have appropriate keywords?
• Do your anchor links have keywords in them? Using here as a link is a missed opportunity.
• Does your domain name include a primary keyword?

2) Submit your site to the 1st and 2nd tier engines like Google, Yahoo, Dmoz, MSN and Looksmart, and to the blog directories. Here is a short list of sites that offer free blog listings:

That way people don not have to visit your site to get your latest insights; they just open their RSS reader and read the news. If your blog is at Blogger.com, don not worry about an RSS feed, its already been created for you. If you are not at Blogger.com and your current blog doesn not have RSS functionality, visit Feedcraft.com and sign up for their free service that will set up an RSS feed from any website (blog or not).

5) Swap links. Make a list of relevant sites you would love to link to your blog. Write them a short friendly note and offer to let them use a few of your posts as content on their site in exchange for a link back to your site. Also, link to their sites from within one of your posts. Be sure to offer to exchange links in the links section of your blog. Most blog software programs offer this. There are also sites that special in helping bloggers swap links. Web Log Empire (http://www.weblogempire.com/) is a large one. 6) Be part of the blogging community. Go to other blog sites you admire. Contribute to their blogs in ways that add real value. Write good, thoughtful comments that are content rich. Give away what you know. Do it a lot at least 3 posts a week. Over time you will become recognized as someone who has something worthwhile to say. As your reputation grows, people will seek out your blog. This is not an overnight process, but by paying your dues and building an audience you are positioning yourself to become a star. Additionally, if your site does not have the functionality for visitors to add comments, Haloscan (http://www.haloscan.com/) is a free service that will let them do so. It also allows for trackbacking, which is a way to manage pings.

7) Write your blog! Put everything you have got into it. Make it great! Post as frequently as you can. The search engines will note frequent postings. A blog that has a new post every day is obviously more active and important than a blog that was set up in 2003, has 4 posts, and has been dead since 2004. To really make your blog get noticed you will need to post at least 2-3 times a week.
