Okay, hope you have the answer to my yesterday’s question, ““How motivated are you in doing your own business?” or “Are you motivated enough to become your own boss?”. Keep the answer to yourself first. Let me tell you my experience here. Shall we? . . .

Okay, when I planned to start my own business few years back, I discussed to few friends and to few businessmen, I attended courses, I purchased training and motivation materials, signed up for seminars and many more business events. But I am still “blur” after all those efforts. One thing for sure, I still remember, it has cost me a lot of my savings and time in the process. All those materials and courses are not cheap and they more to theory type of materials not a hands-on things. At that time as a fresh, new, going to be entrepreneur like me need a hands-on steps by steps process.

Then when I mingled around the successful entrepreneurs, to tell you the truth, many of them are too busy to share with me their expertise. Furthermore, even if they do, they are not so keen to part with their “secrets” to me. Some are willing to do so, but the advice does come with a high price tag!

So back to my question above, what is the answer?

Are you excited to know and get started? Great! Let’s begin . . . .

Starting up or running a profitable business does not begin with the business. (You get it…yup, you heard me right!). It begins with the man behind the business. Yes, the answer is YOU!

For this reason, if you wanna be you own boss, it is very important that you know yourself well. It means knowing your resources, tangible and intangible (what are these words! no worries, read along). Before you become your own boss, be certain that:

1. You are able to believe you can do it no matter what it takes (intangible).
2. You have the right product/service and in some cases, financial support (tangible).
3. To make your business work and profit, you must have what it takes. Not everyone does!
4. To ensure that you get involved in a business that you love and be passionate about or venture into something that you are an expert in.

Hope you are clear now and stay tune for tomorrow. Why? Tomorrow I shall elaborate on this phrase “What it Takes”.
