Guys…this is my first post in this new year 2009. After a long break, here I am again to continue my journey with this blog and you guys out there. I received a lots of email asking why I am not updating this blog. Not that I am laying off from blogging but I am giving myself a break from the business world and blogging for a while. I need that and so do my family.

Okay, now let’s get serious. May I ask you one question, “How’s your rice bowl in 2009?” Sounds serious huh!

Remember late last year, Citigroup sent shockwaves across the world when it announced that approximately 52,000 jobs worldwide would be lost by early this year. This is an addition to the 23,000 jobs that it has cut from January to September 2008. This is the worldwide scenario however…..

Things are not as gloomy on our shores. A consultant is saying that Malaysian economy is relatively insulated compared with other countries. So there is no need to panic as the signs are still positive at the moment. We should not be overly pessimistic about the outlook, even though we may experience more of a downturn, says a recrutiment specialist.

And today…I read about this interesting article (but it is in Bahasa Melayu, my mother tongue, Keusahawanan jalan atasi pengangguran, means Entrepreneurship is a way to overcome laidoffs!)

So let’s face it, we don’t get too comfortable. If not Utusan Malaysia will not put up such an article late last year. Although Malaysia might seem to be cushioned from the global crisis, it’s not time for it to rest on its laurels, especially if the crisis is prolonged.

So guys, just be yourself. Review your goals for 2009. Spend less, save more. Have your emergency buffer handy. And think to double up your cash in this bad time. How?
