This week I want to share with you about Corporate Blog. Being in a corporate world myself, I think it is essential for me to discuss with you regarding this topic. Are you in? Just read below and leaves your comments in due course.

Okay, back in the days before e-mail, online ezines, indeed, before even computers, there was the simple daily diary. Given the speed of the internet and humankind’s need to chatter, it was not long until a new twist on the personal blog appeared. The world’s largest coffee klatch of conversation blew open, and corporations, taking note of the increased presence and attention being paid to political blogs, saw the chance to adapt the idea into a new marketing, staff communication, and public relations venue: that of the corporate blog.

Not long time ago it was reported in CNN.com that “As the size, scope and influence of weblogs continue to proliferate, business managers are faced with an increasingly important question: how to make your voice heard above the crowd?” According to a research project conducted by Pew, there will be 34 million weblogs — or blogs, as they known for short — by the end of 2005.

Wow! what a stat huh! Now in 2008, the figures should be more. Am I right? “The corporate blog phenomenon is a grass-roots phenomenon that tries to restore the connection between companies and consumers” said an expert blogger, Steven Friedman. Yet a September 2005 survey by Guidewire found that only 16% of companies with annual sales of $10 million or more are currently blogging.

Innovative big companies like IBM, Microsoft, Yahoo! and Google are blogging. General Motors began Fastlane.gmblogs.com to discuss all about cars and trucks. The GM’s Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz says “We have found the blog to bea hugely effective communications tool and a terrific way to conduct a grassroots, largely unfiltered conversation with GM fans and non-fans alike.” He also says that “It is important to discuss negative as well as positive subjects in the blog. It will create a great credibility in the process.”

So the future looks bright for speaking one’s mind via the written word, as long as it does not go against company policy or give away corporate secrets. This is the latest stats on the world of internet.

1,407 Million Internet Users!

– April 30, 2008 – The estimated number of Internet users in the world for March 31, 2008 is 1,407,724,920 and the penetration is 21.1%, based on the world population estimate of 6,676,120,288 persons for mid-year 2008.

So in view of the massive stats above how on earth we want to get known with our little and new blog. There is a way to get into the front picture. Read it here, A massive strategy to succeed in the world of blogging.

Okay guys, see ya tomorrow, as I would like to ask you a question,

“Do we need a blog?”
